Flu Season is Coming
Flu shots are recommended for the following infants and children:
1. All infants and toddlers 6-23 months
2. Siblings, household contacts, and care providers of children 6-23
months
3. All children with chronic health problems such as asthma, diabetes,
renal disease, sickle cell anemia, and immune deficiencies
4. Anyone else who wants to reduce their chance of catching influenza
Inactivated (killed) influenza vaccine has been used in the United
States for many years. The vaccine is updated yearly since influenza
viruses change constantly. Protection develops in about two weeks and
lasts up to one year. Some people who get the flu vaccine may still get
the flu, but it will usually be a milder case than those who didn’t get
the shot.
We will be administering the flu vaccine for our patients starting
October 1st. Please call after September 15th to schedule an
appointment.
